The process

Six stages of a private Derawan trip

The same sequence for every trip, from the first call to the photos afterwards.

  1. Stage 1

    Consultation

    A chat about your dates, group size, preferred stay and budget.

  2. Stage 2

    Trip and stay

    Private Trip 3D2N or 4D3N, with your chosen stay, transfers, meals and island hopping combined.

  3. Stage 3

    Booking

    Deposit, contract, a WhatsApp group with your team, and day-by-day reference documents.

  4. Stage 4

    Pre-arrival

    Transfers confirmed, a briefing on the reefs, a packing list for your activities and health guidance.

  5. Stage 5

    On the trip

    Your crew and guides run the days, with 24/7 support and a weather backup plan.

  6. Stage 6

    After the trip

    Your photos and videos, copied to your hard disk during the trip (usually on day 3), and a follow-up to hear how it went.

What the consultation decides

The consultation records your dates, group size, dietary needs and budget. These choices decide the trip length, the stay and the Standard or Premium tier.

Destinations may change with sea and weather conditions on the day, so follow your guide's directions.

During the trip

Crew, food and time on the water

Once you arrive, the plan becomes the days on the water.

Who and what is on board

  • Crew

    A local guide who knows the archipelago, plus a tour leader on the Premium tier. Our trips are snorkel-based; scuba diving is not included.

  • Meals

    Included: 6 meals on the 3D2N and 9 on the 4D3N, with mineral water.

  • Excursions

    Maratua, Kakaban and Sangalaki on day 2; the Talisayan whale sharks, Manimbora and Labuan Cermin on the 4D3N.

Turtle conservation

Sangalaki is a nesting site for green and hawksbill turtles, and day 2 includes a visit to the turtle conservation there.

How you reach Derawan

Fly (booked by you) to Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau, where we meet you. The car and speedboat legs are included.

Tanjung Batu → Derawan Speedboat ~40 min

Kalimarau Airport is the meeting point. The private trip finishes by 14.00 WITA on the last day; book return flights after 15.00 WITA.

Documentation by tier

Photos and video are part of every private trip. The tier decides who travels with you and what is filmed.
