How much does a stay cost?

It is priced inside the private trip: from USD 1,290 in total for two guests on a 3D2N (standard tier, Reza Derawan Resort or Alfit VIP Derawan), and 4D3N from USD 2,190 for two. The price depends on the stay; larger groups pay less each.

Which island should I stay on for diving, Derawan or Maratua?

Derawan Island is the practical default for a first visit and for 3D2N schedules: most rooms, shortest transfer. Maratua is quieter and further out, better for divers who want more time on the water.

When is the best time to book?

April to November is the best season; December to March is the wetter period, and open-trip departures are published in every month. Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for a real choice of stay; mid-season holiday periods fill first.

Is scuba diving included in the package price?

No. Our Derawan trips are snorkel-based; scuba diving is not included. The trip covers the stay, the private speedboat, meals, guides, a snorkel kit, documentation, travel insurance, entrance fees and the transfer from Kalimarau Airport.

Can I book a room only, without the trip?

The stays are booked as part of the Private Trip Derawan, minimum 2 travellers, not as standalone rooms. Splitting them tends to leave travellers on an island with no transport to Kakaban or Sangalaki. For budget room-only options, see the homestay guide.

"Derawan dive resort" is a search, not one hotel

No hotel in the archipelago officially carries the name. There is a spread of resorts, cottages and villas across Derawan Island, Maratua and the surrounding waters, mostly sold to divers and snorkellers as part of a trip rather than as a standalone room.

That changes how to shop: the boat, the route and the guide decide the quality of your water days, not the pillow. Comparing trips is more useful here than comparing resorts one by one.

When to book

The best season is April to November

December to March is the wetter period, and open-trip departures are still published in every month. Stays tighten fastest in the middle of the best season, when Indonesian and regional school holidays overlap. Booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead gives you a genuine choice of stay; inside 2 weeks you usually take whichever has space.
