Land at Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau, about 2.5 to 3 hours by road to Tanjung Batu, then about 40 minutes by speedboat to Derawan. Beach walk and snorkel from the resort.

Derawan 7D6N: seven days across the atoll
General guidance for a seven-day stay: Kakaban and Sangalaki, Maratua, Labuan Cermin on the mainland, quiet sandbars and a conservation day. Indonesia Juara does not sell a 7-day trip; our Derawan trips are the Private Trip (3D2N or 4D3N) and the Open Trip (4D3N).

General guidance only: Indonesia Juara does not run a 7-day trip. Our Derawan trips are 3D2N and 4D3N. In this plan Derawan Island is the base every night.
Day 3 in detail
Maratua: currents, barracuda and caves
Maratua suits confident divers: drop-offs, strong currents and dives planned around the conditions on the day. Our Derawan trips are snorkel-based; scuba diving is not included.
The Maratua dives
Big Fish Country
Where currents meet: grey reef sharks, eagle rays and schooling tuna, at 25–30 m.
Barracuda Point

Underwater caves
Only with proper dive training and a guide.
Outer island
Maratua Atoll
A larger, crescent-shaped island with deep drop-offs and strong currents. Divers return to Derawan in the evening.
Highlights
Four stops that make the seven days
Water sits around 28°C, which makes long snorkels comfortable.
Day 2 Kakaban jellyfish lake
About 400 m across and up to 10 m deep, with four species of jellyfish that lost their sting. No fins in the lake.
Day 4 Labuan Cermin
Clear fresh water on top, salt water below. Float in the fresh layer and watch sea fish underneath.
Day 5 Gusung Sanggalau
A sandbank about 150 m long that appears at low tide, with reefs around it for snorkelling.
Every night Derawan Island
The base for all six nights: white sand, and resident reef fish to snorkel with straight from the resort.
