Guide · Diving
A guide for certified divers looking at Maratua and Sangalaki. Indonesia Juara does not sell diving packages; our Derawan trips are the Private Trip (3D2N or 4D3N) and the Open Trip (4D3N), both snorkel-based.
The short answer
Indonesia Juara, part of Juara Holding Group since 2015, runs two trips through the Derawan Archipelago in Berau, East Kalimantan, from Kalimarau Airport (BEJ): the Private Trip (3D2N or 4D3N, 2–10 guests) and the Open Trip (4D3N, minimum 7 guests). Both are snorkel-based; scuba diving is not included.
On the Private Trip the boat, guiding and transfers are shared costs, so larger groups pay less each. Solo travellers join the Open Trip.
Trip costs
The private trip is priced by the stay you choose, and larger groups pay less each. Indonesia Juara does not sell or quote scuba diving.
Flights to Berau (BEJ) are not included. The final figure is confirmed in writing before you book.
Inclusions
The definitive list is the written quote for your dates and group size. Treat this page as the map, not the contract.
Where the route goes
Our trips draw on 13 destinations; the number of nights decides how many fit. For divers the draw is Maratua and Sangalaki.
Underwater profiles, entry points and what each site is known for are on the dive site guide. Non-divers snorkel the shallow reef flats on the same route.
Certification
Bring a current certification from a recognised agency and your logbook. The depth of each dive is set at the briefing by the guide, based on the site and the day.
| Certification | Recreational depth limit |
|---|---|
| Entry-level (Open Water) | 18 m |
| Advanced | 30 m |
| Suitably trained divers | 40 m, the recreational maximum |
Dry for a year or more? Plan a refresher. If nobody in your group is certified, our snorkel-based Private or Open Trip covers the same islands.
How many days
Indonesia Juara runs 3D2N and 4D3N only; the other formats below are general guidance, not trips we sell.
When to go
The open-water crossings between Derawan, Sangalaki, Kakaban and Maratua are the spine of every dive day, and they are most reliable from April to November. December to March is the wetter period, and open-trip departures are still published in every month. Every trip starts and ends at Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau.
Book flights only after the itinerary is confirmed in writing. Sea state, not marketing, decides what a boat can do on the day.

Where to stay
You choose the stay from this list, and the trip price depends on it; it is named in writing before you pay. Staying on Maratua avoids the morning transfer to its reefs.
Private Trip Derawan rates from indonesiajuara.asia: total for two guests, standard tier. Flights to Berau are not included.
Answers
No. Our Derawan trips are snorkel-based; scuba diving is not included.
