The Derawan Archipelago is not a single island. The 13 destinations on a private trip are spread across open water, so the property you book is not just a bed: it is the starting point of every boat departure for the next two or three mornings.
Someone who wants to be in the water with manta rays at first light has a different accommodation problem from someone who wants an air-conditioned room and a short transfer from the airport. Both are solvable, just not with the same property.
Every trip meets at Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau, so your stay is decided after your flight, not before it.

When to go
The April to November best season decides your accommodation
April to November is the best season. December to March is the wetter period, when sea conditions rather than room availability are the limit and the outer destinations are less reliable, though trips still run. Inside the best season, the mid-season months carry the heaviest demand, so if you need a specific property, treat your booking date as part of the itinerary.
