How the Bali to Derawan route works
One continuous journey: start in South Bali or Ubud, fly (booked by you) to Berau, finish with a speedboat. We meet you at Kalimarau Airport (BEJ).

Why pair Bali with Derawan for snorkelling
Bali's reefs around Nusa Penida and Amed are vibrant but busy. Derawan sits in the Coral Triangle inside the Berau Marine Protected Area, with resident green turtles, manta sightings and Kakaban's non-stinging jellyfish lake, in water around 28 °C all year.
Enjoy Bali's culture, rice terraces and temples first, then shift to a quieter marine focus. The 4D3N gives two full days on the water: Maratua, Kakaban and Sangalaki, then the Talisayan whale sharks and Labuan Cermin.

What the Derawan part costs
The open trip is priced per person; a private trip is priced for the group and depends on the stay you choose.

Derawan and Bali
Fewer beds, quieter islands
Derawan has 31 islands but far fewer beds than Bali, so it stays quiet even in the busiest months. Accommodation runs from family-run lodges on Pulau Derawan to small over-water resorts on Maratua, not high-rise beachfront strips.
Conservation rules in the Sulu-Sulawesi marine ecoregion shape development, and even simple packages put green turtles within easy reach, where Bali may need a longer boat ride.

When and how to book
April to November, booked direct
April to November is the best season, with visibility often 20–30 metres; December to March is the wetter period. Online travel agencies list only a fraction of the lodges and boats and may miss seasonal flight changes; booking direct lines up flight schedules, weather and marine park updates in one plan.
For July to September departures, book 60–120 days ahead: island capacity is limited.

The Open Trip Derawan 4D3N is USD 280 per person (VIP USD 300), minimum 7 guests. A private trip starts from USD 1,290 in total for two guests on 3D2N and USD 2,190 for two on 4D3N, depending on the stay. Flights from Bali and your Bali nights are extra.
