What makes a Derawan private stay different
Only a small number of islands in the Derawan Archipelago host a private resort or villa, so stays feel quieter than most Balinese beachfronts. On Maratua and Derawan you wake directly over warm Coral Triangle water, around 28 °C, with house reefs and turtles just off the decks.
The islands lie inside the Berau Marine Protected Area, and several resorts keep guest numbers low to protect the reef and the night-time quiet.
